We have a number of people working hard behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Jay Chen is our Mobile Developer and he works hard to continually ensure you have the best experience possible when using the Mycare platform. We sat down for a chat.
What is your role at Mycare?
I’m a Mobile Developer which means I work on developing the Mycare app.
What drew you to work here?
I have worked for other companies with similar products to the Mycare app, so I figured I could use some of the knowledge I learnt in my previous roles to benefit and help grow the Mycare platform. Working with Mycare has also provided me with a chance to improve both my tech and my leadership skills. As Mycare is a start-up that I have been with for a few years now, we have had the opportunity to use newer technology, and have embarked on some exciting projects that have allowed me to improve my project management skills. It also helped that I love living and working in Auckland where our Mycare office is, as I have a great network of friends here.
What does a great day look like?
It can be pretty stressful when we find a bug in the Mycare system, so it’s always a good day when there aren’t any urgent bug fixes needing to be done. It is also very reassuring when there are no updates needed to the system.
What is the most important thing you would like people to know about Mycare?
Mycare is a great platform for people who want to have more control and be more hands-on with their life, or even for people who just don’t like care worker agencies. Mycare gives people more choice and enables them to live life their way. By being able to choose their workers, what rates they pay, and when the worker is coming in to support them, there is greater flexibility and control over how people can coordinate the support they need to live the way they want to. The Mycare community provides a great range of workers for people to find the right support they need.
What is the most exciting thing that you work on?
Restructuring the whole back-end code of the Mycare platform – the real techy stuff!
What hobbies do you have?
In my spare time I enjoy being active, going swimming or playing badminton. My other passions are food and travel. I love it when I can combine all of my favourite things.
