Your Mycare Profile may be more important than your resumé, as users are not always solely interested in your work experience. They may be more interested in connecting with someone with similar interests and a compatible personality. Below are four suggestions for the type of information which will set your worker profile apart:
Your hobbies and interests
Mycare has a diverse community of people seeking support. Often, people aren’t simply looking for workers with experience but rather for someone they can connect with on a personal level. Of course, for certain jobs where nursing or personal care is involved, people will be looking for specific skills. However, there are plenty of listings on Mycare where clients or their families are looking for someone to be a companion. Then it is more important that you share the same interests with that person. For example, if a mum is looking for an independent contractor for her son to spend time with after school, she will be looking for someone who can relate to her son’s interests, such as bike riding, playing video games or watching his favourite rugby team.
Make sure that your profile does have your availability correctly shown, as incorrect or incomplete information may mean you miss out on work. Also, be up-front and honest about what you can do and can’t. People are wanting to hire reliable and honest workers, and part of being transparent includes being clear about the hours you can work. When applying for a job make sure that you discuss this as well. Being clear about other commitments will ensure that there are no issues further down the track.
Perhaps you have a quirky sense of style, an unusual hobby, a particular cultural background, or you speak another language. Any of these factors could aid in landing that next job. Mycare recently had someone who was looking for a Danish speaker to spend time with their loved one. Another person was looking for someone who enjoyed horse riding to be a companion and take their teenaged daughter out on a horse. Your hobbies and pastimes could align perfectly with what an individual is looking for, enabling you to find work you enjoy.
Don’t forget to ask current and previous clients to leave a review on your Profile. The best recommendations often come from word of mouth. The Review section enables people to leave remarks so that the next person who looks at your Profile sees their comments.
